The ABG group scam which is being called as, ‘one of the biggest scams of the country’ has now taken another turn. According to the recent CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) investigation report, the traces of the previous UPA government’s involvement in the scam has been unearthed claimed by the Bharatiya Janata Party.
While addressing a press conference on Wednesday, “Rajya Sabha MP and BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said, “a few days ago the congress party tried to make a baseless allegation of corruption based on the issue of ABG Shipyard Ltd. Now the facts that are coming out and on the basis of the CBI’s factsheet indicate that the congress party is connected with this scam.”
Trivedi claimed that major irregularity in the company’s account was spotted from 2003 to 2011 when the UPA government was in power. Also, he raised a question on how the company was declared NPA (Non-Performing Asset) in 2013 during the Congress regime without thorough investigation.
According to Trivedi’s allegations, the scam started in 2012 and continued till 2014. “Now we want to ask the Congress party to tell what was their involvement in the biggest scam. The promoters of the company were believed to have a very close relationship with the former political advisor to the Congress president. Congress and corruption maintain a good relationship. Today congress has exposed itself,” he alleged.
According to the CBI, ABG Shipyard the flagship firm of ABG group has defaulted 22,842cr loan from 28 different banks including State Bank of India (SBI). Lookout notice against the Directors of the shipping firm including Rishi Agarwal, Santhanam Muthuswamy and Ashwini Kumar, has already been issued.
Congress party has not given any official reaction on these allegations by BJP up till now. The party held a press conference on Monday in which Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala alleged that BJP has facilitated the biggest scam in the country.
