Ravi Mital, a Bihar cadre Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from the 1986 batch, was appointed Chairperson of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India on Wednesday.
Mital served as Secretary, Department of Sports, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports before joining the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India as Chairperson. Mital has also served as Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting and Special Secretary, Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance.
According to a statement released by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Mital has also served on the boards of State Bank of India, Punjab National Bank, GIC Re, and other organisations. He has served in various capacities in various Ministries and Departments of the Government.
Founded on October 16, 2016, headquartered in New Delhi, the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India is the regulator for overseeing insolvency proceedings as well as entities like Insolvency Professional Agencies, Insolvency Professionals and Information Utilities in India.
