Actor-Athlete- BSF soldier, Praveen Kumar Sobti passed away at the age of 74 due to cardiac arrest, in Delhi on Monday evening. Actor Sobti was popular for his character as Bheem in B.R Chopra’s Mahabharat, which aired between 1988 to 1990. Apart from this he also played the popular comic character Saboo from Chacha Chaudhary. He featured in films like- Shehensha, Ajooba, Aaj Ka Arjun, Ghayal, etc.
Other than this film career Sobati had an illustrious career in sports. He represented India in the hammer and discus throw, winning gold medals for the discus event at the 1966 and 1970 Asian Games. He won silver medals at the 1966 Commonwealth Games and the 1974 Asian Games. Sobti also competed at the 1968 and 1972 Olympics.
At the age of 20, he joined BSF (Border Security Force). The official Twitter handle of BSF attributed a post in remembrance of the veteran actor/athlete.
Sobti Joined AAP in 2013 and then shifted to BJP in 2014. Bollywood and his fans paid their condolences on social media after the sad news.
