On Monday, the Minister of State for Defence, Ajay Bhatt in Rajya Sabha announced 312 female students have been admitted in the 2021-22 session all over 33 Sainik schools.
In his speech, he said, “With effect from the academic session 2021-22, girl cadets have been admitted in all existing 33 Sainik Schools. 312 girl cadets have been admitted in class 6th in existing 33 Sainik Schools with effect from 2021-22 session.” (Reported by ANI)
In the report, he presented in the Rajya Sabha, he mentioned as many as ten girl cadets were admitted in each of the 23 Sainik Schools meanwhile, nine girl cadets have been admitted in six schools. Two schools admitted eight girl cadets each and another two admitted six girl cadets each.
According to this new enrollment programme, 100 more Sainik schools will be opened across the country.
During the 75th Independence Day programme, Priminister Modi made an announcement that Sainik Schools, which traditionally admit only boys, will now be open for girls as well.
