Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit will be the first woman Vice-Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University, following her appointment by the Ministry of Education (MoE) on Monday.
Ms Pandit is currently the Vice-Chancellor of Maharashtra’s Savitribai Phule University (SPPU).
59 year old Ms Pandit, is a JNU alumni. She earned her MPhil and PhD in International Relations.
In her career, Ms Pandit has served on various positions in several government appointed bodies such as the SPPU management council and senate, the University Grants Commission (UGC) and on the advisory committee for the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Ministry of Sports.
Since 1995, she has been a resource on the Asia Pacific region and India’s security perceptions at the military intelligence training school in Pune. Pandit has authored three books and over 170 research papers and articles on political science and international policy in reputable magazines.
Apart from all this, She teaches papers such as mass media audiences, media research, politics, and communication at the university’s Department of Communication Studies.
