“Mallikarjun Kharge, the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, stated that the Budget offers nothing to farmers”.
He further called t the Union Budget 2022 “pro-capitalist” and claimed that it was drafted solely with the election season in mind.
In an interview with ANI, Mr Kharge stated, “This is a pro-business budget that offers nothing to farmers, MGNREGA recipients, or the SC/ST and OBC communities. This budget has been created with the upcoming Assembly elections in mind.”
“Farmers, employees under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), and Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (SC/ST) and Other Backward Class (OBC) populations will get nothing from the Budget,” he added.
Mr Kharge claimed that the budget only catered to the rich and not the poor using instances from Mahabharata
“As I understand, this budget is for Arjun and Dronacharya and not for Ekalavya. There is nothing for the poor in this budget,” Kharge said.
